Dielette – Sailing Directions
Precautions / Regulations / Facilities.
Maintain Listening Watch Dielette Marina on Ch. 09.
Navigation: A number of shallows / obstacles / exclusion zones exist in the approaches. Keep to plotted track and exercise caution to avoid being set off track by tide.
Depths: The harbour is tidal and shallow to just outside harbour entrance. The harbour entrance and approach is dredged to approximately Chart Datum + 0.5m. Depth may vary from published depth as silting does occur particularly just inside of harbour entrance.
Tidal Streams: The Harbour entrance and approach has, at times, a strong tidal stream running N/S & S/N @ up to 2 Knots.
Winds: The Harbour entrance is exposed in westerly, which can cause a chop in shallows and dangerous in strong wind conditions. Shelter in the marina can also be exposed in strong conditions.
Speed Limits: Harbour entrance 5 knots reducing to 3 knots in the marina.
Marina Entrance: Entry into the marina is thorough the main harbour with a recommended approach which is illustrated in the published port harbour diagram. The Marina entrance has a drop down flap-gate, which dries 3.5m above chart datum. The flap-gate opens when there is 5.00m depth of tide above chart datum at which time the sill can be crossed in approximately 1.5m of water. Entry into marina is approximately H. W. +/- 3 hrs. For published times of entry. See: “Links”. Tide gauge (right side of gate) showing depth over sill and IPTS traffic light system in operation.
When rise of tide / weather conditions permit early access into harbour it enables access to a holding pontoon (Dredged 2m) outside of main marina – Contact Marina control for permission to berth prior to using a holding pontoon.
Marina: Dielette Marina; See “Links”.
Arrival procedures: Berth on holding pontoon and / or call marina staff. See: “VHF communications” & “Useful Telephone Contacts”.
Fuel: The fuel station (diesel & petrol) is located at the entrance to the marina in the harbour front. Fuel is available at all times of the tide with at least 0.5m of water. Pumps accept Credit Cards (Possibly French cards only).
